inspired by the earth, the sky, the sea, and everything in between
I've been fascinated by beads for as long as I can remember. Back in the '90s, when hemp necklaces were all the rage, I used to make hundreds of them and sell them at local markets in Montreal, and to pretty much anyone at my high school who’d buy one (yup I was that kid). I’d spend hours perusing bead shops around the city, hunting for the perfect ones. I still get that same thrill today, especially when I find vintage beads with a story. Jewelry making has come full circle for me.. a creative joy that’s stayed with me all along.
about the beads
Beads are deeply meaningful to me. They feel like tiny worlds, each one carrying its own history and energy. I’m especially drawn to vintage beads, whose provenance tells rich, often forgotten stories from the past. Sourcing them is a joy, like treasure hunting, and arranging them into jewelry becomes a meditative act, a quiet, creative ritual where each combination feels intentional and alive.
why ginkgo beads?
I chose the name ginkgo beads as a tribute to the Ginkgo tree, a symbol of resilience, longevity, and quiet strength. Like the tree, my handmade pieces are built to last, with thoughtful details that reflect both the past and the process of growth.. in life and in craft.
